Hyper-V is Microsoft’s hardware virtualization solution that enables one to create and run a software version of a computers referred to as virtual machines (VMs). Each VM acts like a separate PC, running its own operating system and programs. In this article, we may get an error “Could not connect to the virtual machine try to connect again Hyper-V”. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator. Please see “An error occurred while attempting to connect to the server: Check if the Virtual Machine Management service is running or you are not authorized to connect to this server” and how to Create a Windows Server VM on HyperV.
Note: Be very careful with the solutions you find online when faced with this “GLITCH”. Numerous online suggestions recommend changing the system’s date and time. Or reinstalling Hyper-V, deleting the existing virtual machine to set it up again, and clearing the system’s DNS cache etc. But none of these will ever work because these have nothing to do with this issue.
Please, also see how to Enable HyperV on Windows: How to install Windows 11 on HyperV, how to install free Hyper-V Server on a VMware Workstation, and How to Create Hyper-V Virtual Switch.
Why “Could not connect to virtual machine try to connect again Hyper-V”?
Often, we become impatient and attempt to reconnect to the VM. Especially when we see the uptime ticking in the Hyper-V manager.
In my situation, I’ve encountered an issue where a Windows update required multiple restarts. Despite showing some uptime values in the Hyper-V manager overview, I was unable to connect to the VM. As you can see, there is a suggestion to try reconnecting.

Solution
The fix was simple as all related Hyper-V settings were in place. Wait for the VM to restart and initiate the connection to it. :-)
If you are still unable or can’t connect to Hyper-V Virtual Machine. I would recommend Turning off and turning on the VM again. This should fix the issue relating to the error message discussed in this guide.
There could be other reasons and this would be prompted on the Virtual Machine Connection Wizard. With this information, you will be able to pinpoint and resolve this issue. If you use SCVMM, here is a similar error “Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virtual machine when connecting to a Hyper-V VM“.
